Week 2: Beyond My Name – Exploring the Unseen Parts of Identity

Last week in our homeschooling journey, we talked about My Name, My Identity, exploring my daughter’s name, Mofaramadeoluwa, and the beautiful attributes it carries. Names are powerful anchors of identity, and it was such a joy to watch her beam as she embraced the meaning behind her own.

This week, we’re taking the conversation a step further. Because while our names and physical uniqueness (our faces, our features, the things that make us look different even if we share the same name) are part of our identity, there are also unseen parts that shape who we truly are.

✨ We began exploring the Brain, the control tower that helps us think, feel, choose, and remember. Through fun activities like the “brain crown” and memory games, my daughter is beginning to see her brain as part of what makes her special.

Next, we’ll talk about the Mind, the thinker. It’s where questions, ideas, and imaginations live. We’ll also explore Emotions (the feelings inside us), the Will (the part that helps us choose even when it’s hard), and Memory & Character (the stories and choices that shape who we are becoming).

The truth is, identity is not just what we can see on the outside, but also these powerful unseen parts that influence our character, our decisions, and our future.

My desire is simple: to help my child grow up knowing that she is more than her name, more than her face, she is her thoughts, her feelings, her choices, and her story.

I invite you again to journey with us on this path of self-discovery  raising children who know who they are and grow into leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
